We practise zazen with this morning’s body just as it is.

MASTER WANG-GENH’S KUSEN DURING THE ZAZEN SESSION ON 15 MARCH

We practise zazen with this morning’s body just as it is.
There is no other body.
Likewise, we practise with our inner state this morning.
Just as it is.
There are no others.

Everything reflected in this mirror is completely one with the mirror.
The bird, the ear, consciousness.
Total simultaneity.
If we create the slightest separation, the bird is far away, the bird is outside, the bird is the bird.

That is not what your ear is telling you now.
Consciousness, the ear, the bird are one.
The same applies to everything that appears in this mirror right now.
A memory, an emotion, an image, a thought, words, an idea, an expectation, a desire...

Zazen is not about rejecting anything.
‘This thought is bad, I reject it’: that is the ordinary, dualistic, subject-object attitude.

Whatever arises in consciousness right now,
Observe it,
Receive it,
Swallow it,
Digest it,
Let it go.
