Workshop "Secrets of a monastery garden"

During these weekends we will familiarise ourselves with the different aspects of gardening : We will see that the garden is a living entity and ourselves in relation to it. We will try and understand the plant's needs and how we can create conditions favourable to their growth.

We will see the importance of compost, soil preparation, fertilizer, watering and all the other jobs in the garden, harvesting aromatic and medicinal plants, controling snails and slugs, etc.

  • Practical work will depend on the weather but will also take into account participants wishes and interests. The workshop will be directed by the nun Anette Shinge Thiel.

Gardens and the relation with nature have always played an important role in zen. In his teachings Maître Olivier Reigen Wang-Genh will discuss the their significance and relation to our practice.
