THE 108 BELL RINGING OF NEW EVE

Do you want to ring the Bonsho for the New Year? Send us your name by e-mail before 5pm.

To enter the New Year, some human beings gather in Buddhist monasteries to celebrate an ancient ritual: the 108 bells ceremony. Each one will ring the big bell of the monastery, and make a wish - make a commitment - for the coming year.

It is a tradition of Soto Zen Buddhism.

Tonight, unfortunately, you won't be able to come and take part in this ritual, but all evening the boncho will ring your bell for the coming year.
