Sesshin New Year 2025 - December 29 to January 1

The 2025 New Year's Zen meditation retreat is an opportunity to spend the transition between the year that is ending and the one that is beginning, in zazen. During this retreat (sesshin), there are four zazen sessions a day, teachings and the practice of samu (participation in community life).

People new to the practice are welcome.

For New Year's Eve, there will be a meal, an evening of zazen, a New Year's ceremony and a party.

IMPORTANT: in order to take part in the New Year's Eve party, you must either :

  • already be there for the preceding sesshin,
  • have already been to the temple at another time,
  • or be the spouse or children of a practitioner

Program

Arrival Saturday 28 December between 5pm and 6pm

Initiation for beginners at 7pm

Sesshin : Sunday 29, Monday 30 and Tuesday 31 of December (afternoon free after lunch)

31st December - New Year's Eve

19:00 Dinner
20:30 - 23:45  Night of zazen 
Pace of sessions: zazen 25min, kinhin 15min, zazen 25min, kinhin 15min, etc.

RATES

(Teaching, accommodation and meals included)

  • Retreat + New Year's Eve + 1st January: 225 € / 160 € (for students and job seekers)
  • Sesshin alone: €166 / €117
  • New Year's Eve party + 1st January: €93 / €62

To participate in the activities of the monastery, you must be a member of the Association of the Zen Temple of Weiterswiller. Annual fee: 15 €. 

INFORMATION : The Community of Communes of Hanau La Petite Pierre has introduced a tourist tax on the territory to contribute to the development of tourism activities. This tourist tax is applicable from May 1st 2022 at a rate of 80 cents per person per night (to pay in addition to the sesshin).
